    Mechanic Orientation Recap:

We’d like to thank the folks who attended Thursday evening’s Mechanic Orientation. We considered it a big success and look forward to working with our new mechanics to staff more open shop hours soon. This site will be updated as the schedule changes so check back to stay posted. As for right now shop hours are Thursday and Friday from 3 PM – 6 PM.

If you could not make it Thursday but are still interested in being a Kickstand mechanic, don’t worry, we will be having more Mechanic Orientations in the near future, and you are always welcome to come to the general Kickstand volunteer meeting, held every Thursday at 6pm at the shop (722 S. Main St.) to let us know you’d like to be involved. Or, email us at ilovethekickstand@gmail.com.
    Greeter Orientation:
This Thursday, September 17, during our weekly volunteer meeting at 6 PM, we will be holding a “Greeter Orientation” for people interested in volunteering as a shop greeter. The greeter’s job is to manage the front area of the shop during open shop hours and includes responsibilities such as: checking people in and out, communicating with the mechanics about what kind of help people need, logging donations and volunteer hours, and helping with general cleaning and organization of the shop at the end of a shift. We are looking for dedicated individuals who don’t necessarily have mechanic experience but would still like to volunteer their time at the Kickstand and potentially learn more about bicycle mechanics in the process. With your help we can staff more shop hours and better serve the Gainesville community with low-cost bicycles and bicycle services.
If you have any questions, email us at ilovethekickstand@gmail.com or call Eliza Lutz at (505) 316-1193 for more details.
    See you there!

The Kickstand needs mechanics! In order to be open more hours as a bike shop, we are currently seeking people who are interested in volunteering their time as a shop mechanic. If you would like to get involved, please attend our Mechanic Orientation this Thursday, September 10, at 6:00PM in the shop, located at 722 S Main St. We will discuss how shop hours operate, run through the basic layout of the shop, and talk with you about your availability to volunteer. The more experience you have the better, but if you have an understanding of the basics we can still use your help.

    Thank you for your support!
